Teaching and learning is deeply rooted in my being, children are my joy, and I truly believe all are capable of learning. I have experience as a tutor, which I obtained while as a student at NIU. I would tutor other students with in the chemistry, math, and biology departments. I love teaching. Because I believe that students learn the most when they do the work themselves, but sometimes they need someone there to motivate them or to guide them in the right direction. Since earing my degree in CIS I have had 10 years of industry experience as well as having worked as a substitute teacher in both the Galesburg (CUSD #205, 200-2001) and Peoria (District 150,2007-Present) School Districts. While earning my degrees, I was inducted into a honor society with emphasis on helping the engineering students in our department in several way. Our focus was working with companies for future jobs and offering free tutoring every week for all computer and electrical engineering courses that were junior level and below. For 3 years I was apart of the tutoring while juggling my course load which also included a great deal of mathematics. I taught one semester of College Algebra at Illinois State University. I was responsible for 2 sections of lab while I completed graduate credits for a Master's in Mathematics. My B.S. in actuarial science (math) was attained from Bradley University. Also, I've been a youth minister at the local church for a year and half now and have formed a large group consisting of junior high and high school students. From my experience of working the Math Lab at ICC, I have noticed that for some students, math is a rather difficult subject to them. Therefore, I always try to make sure my students understand everything I'm explaining and I always ask them for feedbacks so I know that they clearly understand everything. I always go over and review the materials I have taught/explained to the students so if there are any shady areas, I make sure I go over and expalin it again.
