Experience Summary
I have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, with a concentration in Statistics. I'm currently working on a Master's degree in Biomathematics at Illinois State University so that I can teach either Biology or Math at the community college level. I have over 5 years of experience teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and lower and upper division Statistics. I generally focus on tutoring college-age students, but I have tutored high school juniors and seniors in the past, and would welcome the opportunity to do so again.
Teaching Style
My strengths are in teaching lower level math and statistics to students who don't "get" math. I have an easy-going, patient personality, and I firmly believe there is no such thing as a bad question. I am good at breaking math down to it's most basic level, and going through every step to ensure that you don't get lost. If a particular concept isn't making sense to you, I will try to find another (and another, and another...) way to explain it until it does make sense. I have reference information from previous students who can attest to my teaching methods, if you so desire.
