Accounting is one of my top subjects! CPA Exam

I use the basic visual and auditory but the vast majority I use is "Learn by Doing". A hands on approach by the student creates a much higher retention rate in my experience.

My comments on tutoring Accounting : Majored in Accounting as undergraduate. Several years experience in corporate and public accounting. Designed and installed many basic accounting/bookkeeping computer applications. Also served as adjunct accounting instructor at Community college.

I try to present each subject area as a sample problem and show EXACTLY how a solution is reached. Then I invite the student's participation with a view toward understanding the student's thinking. While accuracy in math is vital, understanding the steps involved is crucial.
Eight years of tutoring math subjects for middle school and high school students. I have a keen interest in math and have always enjoyed helping students grasp the essence of a problem and its mathematical solution. I worked for many years in the corporate world, designing and programming mid-range and large scale computers.

I have worked in food service, construction and most recently the non-profit industry. I lived in St. Quentin, France, while attending elementary school in 1978-79. I am currently teaching as an adjunct professor for Rasmussen College in their Allied Health Program. I have tutored students in specific classes. I was a substitute teacher in 1993 for Toledo Public School systems. I have earned two bachelor's degrees, one is in Psychology, the other in Accounting. I also have 6 years of retail management experience which included training new staff and refresher training on computerized cash registers and company policies and procedures. I also have self-taught myself Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as a variety of computer software.
