I have been a tutor at the Boys and Girls Club here in decatur for three years. During undergraduate i was a math tutor for two years. For the last year I have been a substitute teacher at the Decatur Public Schools. I have a bachelors degree in business and a MBA from Benedictine University. I have a very creative teaching style...I like to help students think outside of the box. Utilizing real life situations to apply to mathematics and business curriculm. I have a triple major in math education, elementary education and physical education. My experience in teaching is limited other than helping my brother-in-law with tutoring through algebra in college. I enjoyed it very much, and it was extremely fulfilling. My teaching style is one which engages the student actively in the learning process. I have used the "popcorn" technique in a classroom, where I call out "popcorn", then call on someone at random. This ensures that each student in the class is following, or else they lose their turn to read. If I'm working w/ a student w/ poor reading skills, I allow them to read, and help them w/ the difficult words, encouraging them to sound out the word. As a student at Eastern Illinois University (EIU) I majored in Accounting and minored in Chemistry and Pre-medicine.
