I graduated from Wheelock College with a double major in Human Development and Elementary Education. Working with children has always been an interest of mine and something I enjoy doing. I currently teach at a small K-12 school where I taught business classes. My current course load includes Introduction to Career, Business Management, Business Math, Accounting, and Work-based Learning. I am also the director of the Stratford Alternative Education Program. This program allows me to help students complete courses such as Chemistry, Biology, and Algebra so they may receive a state diploma. Working in a K-12 environment has helped me gain a better understanding of the cognitive development and thought processes. I really enjoy working with people. Everyone has a different learning style and I believe in catering my approach to the person. I have a talent at taking complicated material and condensing it in a way that makes sense. As a University of Southern Maine graduate, I look forward to having my own classroom where I can touch many students' lives. I have earned my BA in General Science with a concentration in Earth Science. I tend to use the many experiences that I have learned from in my own classroom and with students that I can help. I have not been a tutor before, but have had several teaching experiences. I was thinking that tutoring would help me solidify my philosophy of teaching: "Allowing kids to explore the possibilities. Anyone can do what they put their mind to." I love teaching and working with children. There is nothing better to me then seeing a student discover something new and being excited to learn.
