My comments on tutoring American History : I recently received my B.A in History from SUNY Plattsburgh and I am currently pursuing a M.A in History at CUNY Brooklyn.

In the past I have engaged students with music, film clips and leading questions to put a new perspective on required reading.

A Little Bit About Me...

As someone who felt in my youth that if I could only pay attention I could learn anything has taught me how to break down the barriers to focus and how it can shape a students success in any discipline. Focusing on my learning style has taught me how to demonstrate complex ideas in ways that are easy to absorb. I tend to find different ways to relate material to students in ways that are fun. The one word I would use to describe my teaching style is flexible. If something is not working and my students are not getting what I'm trying to teach I change my lesson plan mid-stream. Each student learns differently, and each class learns differently. It is my job to ensure all of their learning styles are achieved.

I do enjoy helping anyone write a well developed and educated paper on the topic at hand. My specific style of teaching, especially for the 8th grade, is to read the current book being used, and then present my lesson with lecture, interactive discussion and comprehension, based on the age and grade of the student. I like to put the lesson into terms that the age group can relate to, and then assign a memory technique that will teach the students to recall the proper answer by using the examples we have discussed in class. That is the same method that I use myself when I need to write a paper. I read it, analyze it, comprehend it, and then write a paper based on what I can relate it too.
