"success starts now"

My experience is all in college. I had 9 Labs in college in all my science courses. I excelled very well in my science courses and i keep learning. Did great in my research project class. Played college baseball so i am great with athletes that do not want to study. I can break down big concepts into smaller concepts that is understandable for all students in the academia process. I studied a lot myself to achieve success in college and do well in classes.
Hands on, and more of an application study. I believe that the only way to actually understand something is being able to apply it to real world situations.

A Little Bit About Me...

I’m pursuing a degree as a Middle School Math Teacher. I’m currently working on my Basic Skills Exam for Teaching in Florida and expect to have it completed in the next two weeks. I previously attended SLCC in Utah where I took a lot of Math and Science classes related to Electrical Engineering. I landed a job with the Salt Lake Community College Math Dept. as a tutor and realized that I enjoyed teaching more than being an engineer. Although I tutored mostly college students I have worked as a private tutor to various age levels from middle school to college age. I have aIso volunteered in the community to help with activities for the youth. My experience is anything from outdoors activities such as camping, hiking etc. to teaching classes on personal development. I believe that anyone can learn math and love to help them achieve whatever goal they want. I look forward to hearing f ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of business who worked several years in the Financial services industry and having four young children. I saw the importance and having to tutor my children at home so they can have a better education. I home schooled and taught my eight year old who has a learning disability and autism. He is back in school and I am so proud that he excels in math and gets awards frequently. In in the past two years I have tutored three middle schoolers. I have also scored test for ETS.
I love teaching elementary, middle and high schoolers. I believe that every child has the capability to excel at anything if they put their mind to it. I do understand that there are some children who learn very quickly and other who are slower which is why it is important to teach in different way. I enjoy having my students tell me how they are doing better in school.

I completed my BS degree in electrical engineering in 2007. While pursing that degree, I took coursework in Math (through Calc I-III, Differential Equations, and Linear Systems Analysis) Physics, and Chemistry. Following graduation I worked as a project engineer constructing and commissioning an oil refinery in southwest Asia. Among with my technical responsibilities, I participated in training future local operators via translator.
To begin, I have always loved science and working with numbers. I'm very patient when trying to explain a topic to someone. I believe the majority of problems with comprehension people have, especially in math/science, are due to an incomplete background or an unclear explanation. With time and effort, most anyone can learn just about anything, and participating in that is very satisfying.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Valencia Community College with an AA degree, the University of Central Florida, with a BS degree, Nova Southeastern University with a MS in Mathematics Education. I taught Intensive Math, Algebra I, Geometry, Informal Geometry, and AP Statistics.
I have developed a strong belief that the first thing a teacher must do is to promote positive attitudes about learning. During the process of developing these positive attitudes and perceptions about learning, my students will feel accepted and they will experience comfort and order. They will appreciate the proper way to comport themselves and they will recognize tasks as valuable, and believe that they have the ability and resources to not only perform these tasks successfully, but to perform them at high level of understanding. This will lead them into an intellectual capacity of detailed expectations: how and why the ... read more

When students are unable to solve a particular problem, they usually have not been able to understand the basic concepts needed to find the solution. By learning strategies to analyze the information given, students are more capable to solve different problems on their own.

I have a teaching style which refer to as "narrative." All memorable education takes place in the context of its history and personal usefulness. Therefore, I show the student how a topic has affected people in the past and pull it into personal relevance. Discussion is crucial, not only for allowing the student to ask questions, but for me, the teacher to discover the personal learning style of the student.
Most of my adult life has been spent in the arena of teaching and mentoring. My undergraduate degree, a B.S. in Biology, was largely a platform for the many other courses taken in order to teach mathematics and sciences more effectively. Even after I had moved professionally from teaching to military chaplaincy, much of my focus has been on mentoring others. My range of personal experience is wide, having taught or tutored the range from basic mathematics to differential equati ... read more
