"success starts now"

Hands on, and more of an application study. I believe that the only way to actually understand something is being able to apply it to real world situations.
My experience is all in college. I had 9 Labs in college in all my science courses. I excelled very well in my science courses and i keep learning. Did great in my research project class. Played college baseball so i am great with athletes that do not want to study. I can break down big concepts into smaller concepts that is understandable for all students in the academia process. I studied a lot myself to achieve success in college and do well in classes.

I try to see how the student is perceiving the subject, and then, try to teach them by building on their level of comprehension. I like the feeling of meaningful accomplishment when I help someone learn something new and feel better about themselves.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of business who worked several years in the Financial services industry and having four young children. I saw the importance and having to tutor my children at home so they can have a better education. I home schooled and taught my eight year old who has a learning disability and autism. He is back in school and I am so proud that he excels in math and gets awards frequently. In in the past two years I have tutored three middle schoolers. I have also scored test for ETS.
I love teaching elementary, middle and high schoolers. I believe that every child has the capability to excel at anything if they put their mind to it. I do understand that there are some children who learn very quickly and other who are slower which is why it is important to teach in different way. I enjoy having my students tell me how they are doing better in school.

I have had a broad interdisplinary education and a variety of work experiences related to ecology and wildlife. I have worked directly with animals and conducted complex mathematical simulation models. I have been a teaching assistant at the college level and developed and taught a special topic class for undergraduate and graduate students. I also have several years of experience in informal environmental education at both a nature center and a zoo.
Teaching science is not about teaching facts. Science is based on theories, which evolve through the process of discovery. Thus, it is important to teach a student not what to think, but how to think. With little formal teaching experience, my philosophy draws on what I have liked in my teachers. First, and foremost, is enthusiasm. A professor who is clearly excited by the subject is more likely to spark excitement in the students ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I completed my BS degree in electrical engineering in 2007. While pursing that degree, I took coursework in Math (through Calc I-III, Differential Equations, and Linear Systems Analysis) Physics, and Chemistry. Following graduation I worked as a project engineer constructing and commissioning an oil refinery in southwest Asia. Among with my technical responsibilities, I participated in training future local operators via translator.
To begin, I have always loved science and working with numbers. I'm very patient when trying to explain a topic to someone. I believe the majority of problems with comprehension people have, especially in math/science, are due to an incomplete background or an unclear explanation. With time and effort, most anyone can learn just about anything, and participating in that is very satisfying.

We educate students into the discipline of their choice in order to facilitate the achievement of their goals. The students in my classroom have a dream and that is the reason they are there, to pursue that dream. As an educator, my mission is to act as the facilitator of that dream. I help my students reach the goals that they have set for themselves, usually by translating textbook knowledge into day-to-day understandable language, by turning academe into an approachable field, and by adding my own personal experiences when applicable. My job as a facilitator can be accomplished through the exercise of two different approaches: The first is the old school avenue in which the student validates his/her worth through a conventional evaluation outcome (grade). This approach I may add is the easier of the two. The second approach is one that presents education to students as an excit ... read more

I have developed a strong belief that the first thing a teacher must do is to promote positive attitudes about learning. During the process of developing these positive attitudes and perceptions about learning, my students will feel accepted and they will experience comfort and order. They will appreciate the proper way to comport themselves and they will recognize tasks as valuable, and believe that they have the ability and resources to not only perform these tasks successfully, but to perform them at high level of understanding. This will lead them into an intellectual capacity of detailed expectations: how and why they are to perform these tasks. This will lead them to be successful in math, school and life.

I have worked as a tutor in a program called Tutoring Tables, where students attended to obtain help in various subjects. My responsibilities consisted of helping students with questions and homework, organizing study sessions, and providing guidance to improve study skills. The subjects under my expertise are Biology and Chemistry; however, my academic background has provided me with strong knowledge in math and other sciences. Also, I am a Spanish native speaker and half of my college credits were awarded in a Spanish-speaking University, thus I have extensive grammar skills and vocabulary knowledge.
The main purpose of tutoring is the development of strong study skills. When students are unable to solve a particular problem, they usually have not been able to understand the basic concepts needed to find the solution. By learning strategies to analyze the information given, stude ... read more

I have a teaching style which refer to as "narrative." All memorable education takes place in the context of its history and personal usefulness. Therefore, I show the student how a topic has affected people in the past and pull it into personal relevance. Discussion is crucial, not only for allowing the student to ask questions, but for me, the teacher to discover the personal learning style of the student.
Most of my adult life has been spent in the arena of teaching and mentoring. My undergraduate degree, a B.S. in Biology, was largely a platform for the many other courses taken in order to teach mathematics and sciences more effectively. Even after I had moved professionally from teaching to military chaplaincy, much of my focus has been on mentoring others. My range of personal experience is wide, having taught or tutored the range from basic mathematics to differential equati ... read more

I am a current 2nd year teacher at Liberty High School in Kissimmee, FL. I have taught Algebra I, Geometry, and Intensive Math. I have tutored all types of math levels in high school. I have extensive experience and passion for working with students who are below FCAT level and/or ESOL in all mathematics.
As a class, I am a teach first, help second, then master type of teacher. I hold the students accountable for their work, but I also will help them as much as possible. Repetition is a key throughout my process - I feel the more comfortable a student feels in mathematics, the more willing they are to practice outside of class and tutoring and understand it.

I earned my bachelor's degree in Biology in a general biology program consisting of a wide range of courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. During the course of earning this degree, I twice served as a teacher's assistant for a lower division biology class. I also participated in a biology tutoring program for high school students. During college I participated in a summer reading/writing program for at-risk elementary school students and I have also tutored students in several levels of mathematics from algebra to calculus.
I believe that every student learns differently, and I work hard to adapt my teaching style to each individual student and subject.
