If a child feels as though they are in an atmosphere where they are safe, free of ridicule and bias, then they are willing to perform. This process can be a give take scenario however. My teaching style is simple. I start with the basics, then build on that each time I meet with the student. In addition, it is critical that the tutor is doing age-appropriate practice exercises with the student. In addition, there has to be a lot of variety. Students do get bored. I don't like to constantly use a worksheet. I would prefer to enhance the lesson with some hands-on activities, or games. It really makes a difference, especially with the younger students. I also believe in review, review, review. I don't want to move on unless I feel confident that the student has mastered the concept.

I attended ASU where I had an excellent tutor in chemistry that took me as a math/stats tutor under his wing. I learned great personal tutoring techniques and tutored a range of students from middle school to college. I have excellent math/stats background and can tutor anything from basic elementary classes to advanced college level math/stats classes.
I am a one on one mentor/role model/teacher that explains problems in a fashion to the students understanding. While in college, I spent my time home from school substitute teaching through Frederick County Public Schools. After graduation from American University, I continued to substitute and in the fall of 2005 I took a part-time position at a middle school, teaching Theatre Arts and Music Performance Lab.
