Have a interpreter for the Deaf certificate and interpreted years ago. Still enjoy sign language and enjoy when people want to learn it. I was a peer tutor in high school for English and Spanish. I also tutored children in Hebrew at a local temple. In addition, I volunteered as a tutor for underprivileged children in Chicago in all areas: Spelling, Reading, Writing, Math, Language, etc. for grades K-8. I love to work with children of all ages and genders. I have worked with children who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities as well as children of all ages, races, and genders. I attempt to make learning as fun and relevant to the child as possible as every child has varying levels of understanding and concentrations. I am extremely patient and can handle anything. I like to relate learning to childrens' lives (make it about basketball if the boy likes basketball, or about chocolate if the girl likes chocolate).

I hold degrees in various fields of study, and I currently work as a resource teacher for students with special needs in the elementary grades. My masters degree in teaching students with learning disabilities has prepared me for working with students who have trouble in a traditional academic setting. I work closely with parents and other professionals to differentiate materials and teaching processes according to each child's needs. My arts backround allows me to "think out of the box" when it comes to ways of engaging children with learning.
