Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.

I've never actually tutored someone, but I am very good at relating with younger kids and High Schoolers. I was in band from 8th grade to 12th grade where I participated in the Front Ensemble section with keyboards, vibraphones, marimbas, xylophones and various other instruments. I was in the Wind Ensemble which is the highest band class and my last year they introduced the Percussion ensemble where I was a soloist. I was also the section leader during my last year as well. I teach a bible study class at my church where I am not always given my lesson on time, so I usually do very well under pressure. I did very well in High School by graduating with honors. I have always been in the top reading and Literature classes and I did very well in my Art classes. My grade in history was high eighties to high nineties so that was a great set of classes as well. I am the author of five historical novels and a number of articles, poems and short stories. I occasionally do short “residences” teaching Language Arts and Drama to special needs students in k-12 schools for VSA Arts of Florida. My graduate studies emphasized American and Tudor/Stuart History. My doctorate included a Criminal Justice minor. I regularly teach writing and grant writing seminars to adults, usually through libraries on weekends or in the evening.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught both children and adults private piano lessons. I taught history and other subjects for 2 1/2 years as a daily and long-term substitute teacher in secondary schools. For one year I directed a public library story-time program for preschool children. I worked two years as a middle school Library Media instructor. I wrote curriculum and taught computer literacy for four years in a prison GED program. My undergraduate and graduate degrees conferred honors. I enjoy writing, and I completed a short story correspondence course with Writer's Digest. A science fiction zine published one circa 1997.
