My comments on tutoring Composition : Composition is essential in getting your point across. There are not many jobs that do not require some type of communication in writing, so you must have sound composition skills! Get them here!

I hold a Bachelors in English with a minor in Philosophy and Religion. I have years of experience in business writing and in creative writing and poetry; some work in advertising and PR as well. I read books for money, forecasting pre-publication fiction for the trade magazine Publisher's Weekly. English is the most beautiful, malleable and useful language on earth! Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.

I've never actually tutored someone, but I am very good at relating with younger kids and High Schoolers. I was in band from 8th grade to 12th grade where I participated in the Front Ensemble section with keyboards, vibraphones, marimbas, xylophones and various other instruments. I was in the Wind Ensemble which is the highest band class and my last year they introduced the Percussion ensemble where I was a soloist. I was also the section leader during my last year as well. I teach a bible study class at my church where I am not always given my lesson on time, so I usually do very well under pressure. I did very well in High School by graduating with honors. A Little Bit About Me...

I am the author of five historical novels and a number of articles, poems and short stories. I occasionally do short “residences” teaching Language Arts and Drama to special needs students in k-12 schools for VSA Arts of Florida. My graduate studies emphasized American and Tudor/Stuart History. My doctorate included a Criminal Justice minor. I regularly teach writing and grant writing seminars to adults, usually through libraries on weekends or in the evening.
I believe everyone will respond well to individualized instruction when the tutor studies the student's learning style and offers the information in the form best suited to each learner. I am patient and encouraging with students. I work hard to find ways to present a subject so that each learner will find it interesting.

I have taught both children and adults private piano lessons. I taught history and other subjects for 2 1/2 years as a daily and long-term substitute teacher in secondary schools. For one year I directed a public library story-time program for preschool children. I worked two years as a middle school Library Media instructor. I wrote curriculum and taught computer literacy for four years in a prison GED program. My undergraduate and graduate degrees conferred honors.
