I have been teaching since 2005, and doing one-on-one tutoring for just as long. I graduated with a BA in Anthropology, and an MA in Philosophy and Religion. Most of my teaching has been with children ages 10-14, though I have experience with everyone from Kindergarten to College. During my Masters, I wrote my thesis on the Philosophy of Science, and studied Ancient Archaeology in depth during my undergraduate years. I write fiction in my spare time, and have extensive experience with research and term papers. I feel comfortable and competent to teach most basic subjects and levels, though my knowledge of math tapers off after 8th grade. I enjoy working with children, young adults, and adults. Teaching others in any way is beneficial for them and in the long run for me. Upon my graduation from high school, my calculus teacher, who had noticed my natural aptitude for mathematics and my ability to help other students to understand it, referred some younger students who had been struggling to me for tutoring. As a graduate with a B.S. in physics and a B.S. in Chemistry, earning a 3.98 GPA and Summa Cum-Laude recognition while completing the Honors Liberal Studies program in obtaining both degrees at Northern Arizona University, I believe I have thoroughly learned the subjects of physics and chemistry, as well as math (as higher level math is required for physics). I believe in teaching through example. With both physics and mathematics examples are key to develop understanding of theorems and proofs. I help students work through examples and and am able to create a variety of problems through previous experience. I recently earned my physics degree. I returned to school part time in 1998 to work on a degree in physics. As a non-traditional student I was in my 30's, a single parent (three daughters), and working full time as an industrial sales rep. In 2005 I graduated with honors from New Mexico Tech with BS degrees in Physics/Astrophysics and Basic Sciences. Upon graduation I took a position as an instructor, grades 5-12, at a science camp in California for 2 semesters.
