I was a teaching assistant at North Georgia College and State University for three years. I assisted with laboratory sections of biology courses and taught them in the event of a professors absence. I provided department funded tutoring services during that time as well. I have taken the GRE and Biology Section of the GRE and received excellent scores on both tests in only one sitting. I have also coached 4H horse quiz bowl and horse judging teams for several years working with elementary and middle school age children.

A Little Bit About Me...

The method of teaching I prefer is maieutic, i.e., one which draws knowledge from the student, rather than attempts to place it in him/her from without. To me, the process of asking questions and allowing the student's curiosity and intelligence to reach conclusions is far more effective than one-sided lecturing. I am endlessly creative, coming up with myriad examples to illustrate concepts.
In 2006 I taught graphic design topics at Westwood College. In 2007 I taught the same subject at The Creative Circus (roughly equivalent to an MBA program for designers, writers, photographers, and art directors). In 2008 I taught in the design department for Georgia State University. This summer I traveled to a remote region in India to teach English. I hold a BS in Nuclear Engineering from Georgia Tech. I have two and a half years of experience, most of which is at the collegiate level. I am proficient at Introductory Calculus, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. I have a real understanding of these subjects; I have studied and applied them in senior level collegiate courses. While I prepare, I would not list them if I could not show up cold and teach them. In college I volunteered my time tutoring freshmen students in these subjects. I also oversaw the academic goals of two of the clubs that I was involved with. While I primarily work with AP and college level students, I do work well with children and have experience tutoring basic math and science to third and fourth graders.

I have served as a state legislator, serve at Headquarters of the Georgia Air National Guard, write professionally,served as chairman of the local library board and have worked as a teacher for the last three years.
