I was a teaching assistant at North Georgia College and State University for three years. I assisted with laboratory sections of biology courses and taught them in the event of a professors absence. I provided department funded tutoring services during that time as well. I have taken the GRE and Biology Section of the GRE and received excellent scores on both tests in only one sitting. I have also coached 4H horse quiz bowl and horse judging teams for several years working with elementary and middle school age children.

I do have a preferred teaching style, but I will accommodate the student’s preferences. My preferred teaching style is to guide students, not lecture or do their homework for them. Your ability to learn material will be greatly increased by exposure to critical decision making steps as you work problems. I will guide students to these steps as efficiently as possible and wait for a rigorous effort from the student. This will result in either a correct approach or an inappropriate or incorrect approach. After that point I then congratulate the student for a correct answer, or thank them for their effort and try to break down the decision making process so that they can learn from the experience and gain a real understanding of the problem. I always find myself trying to lead others to figure out material on their own as a I set guidelines for them as they do so. I believe this is the best way for them to learn the material. I do not like to tell my students the answers, inhibiting them from thinking things through. I try to find different ways of teaching material in order to keep them motivated, as well. I am a recent graduate of kennesaw State University, with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. I believe that I am competent in various areas of biology and chemistry, and will be able to convey that competence. I have taught and tutored at my church and in other volunteer programs since high school. I also currently give drum lessons at a Stephen's Music Company.
