Experience Summary
I hold a BS in Nuclear Engineering from Georgia Tech. I have two and a half years of experience, most of which is at the collegiate level. I am proficient at Introductory Calculus, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. I have a real understanding of these subjects; I have studied and applied them in senior level collegiate courses. While I prepare, I would not list them if I could not show up cold and teach them. In college I volunteered my time tutoring freshmen students in these subjects. I also oversaw the academic goals of two of the clubs that I was involved with. While I primarily work with AP and college level students, I do work well with children and have experience tutoring basic math and science to third and fourth graders.
Teaching Style
I do have a preferred teaching style, but I will accommodate the student’s preferences. My preferred teaching style is to guide students, not lecture or do their homework for them. Your ability to learn material will be greatly increased by exposure to critical decision making steps as you work problems. I will guide students to these steps as efficiently as possible and wait for a rigorous effort from the student. This will result in either a correct approach or an inappropriate or incorrect approach. After that point I then congratulate the student for a correct answer, or thank them for their effort and try to break down the decision making process so that they can learn from the experience and gain a real understanding of the problem.
