I love working with people and helping them. I believe in constructive discussion, using aids of whatever sort to help make points, and to pick up on a person's true learning style. Some learn from reading, some from doing, some from trial and error. I have earned a Master in Management and an Undergraduate degree in Finance, Marketing and International Business. I am also bilingual and fluently speak french. My work experience coupled with my educational background would make me a valuable tutor to any student needing my help. In the past I have conducted training courses for employees, I was also a tutor during my years in college.
I love teaching children and adults alike. I beleive teaching should be tailored to each individual, because we are all different and learn at a different pace. I find an interactive, Socratic teaching style in which I encourage the student to discover the answers on their own to understand why something works the way it does is a very effective approach for me rather than just lecturing, particularly for younger learners. I find it equally important for students to understand the why of what they are learning as well as the how and the what. I believe that students' multiple intelligences should be harnessed and that if students don't understand information presented initially, it is up to the teacher to find different ways of presenting the information so that the student can make it his or her own.
