I have over 30 years experience with Special Education. From 2002 - 2011 I was lead teacher in a Comprehensive Developmental Classroom K-2. I love to help children understand a subject better. It is a great feeling to see a student get the idea after being helped. I believe that every student is capable of learning; it all depends on their learning style. In my masters program and while I have been teaching, I have learned many ways to get students engaged in the material they are learning. Some students learn better with one on one and some do better with group work. You just have to try different approaches until you see which one works best. Sometimes it just depends on what is being taught. If you show interest in the student he/she will show more interest in your class or subject area and do better.
