I have over 30 years experience with Special Education. From 2002 - 2011 I was lead teacher in a Comprehensive Developmental Classroom K-2. I have worked in the field of School Psychology for public schools in the state of Virginia. Most of my experience has been in rural areas where many different types of needs had to be handled by the Psychologist. Thus, I have had broad experience and training in the area of Special Education. I also worked in private practice and with other professionals which further broadened my skills. My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : My friend and her daughter are both ADHD. Each child is unique.

Teaching brings me pleasure. What I do is to show them, help them, then have them do whatever I am teaching them to do. Sometimes one of the steps may have to be repeated, but this process really works well.
I have tutored my friend's daughter in math and English. I have assisted her with science and social studies projects. Her ADHD can inhibit the learning process, but we are able to work through the problems. Learning about weighted blankets helped me work with her. She is a kinetic learner. my nieces are both visual learners. I have to adapt to each learning style.
