A Little Bit About Me...

I was born to teach. From 10 years old I would teach my friends during summer vacations or whenever I could get them to play my favorite game, school, (Kids don't play school anymore). I enjoy helping students make the connections. I use a teaching approach that is hands on and generally seeks to find atudents learning style. I know that all children can learn, it is sometimes a matter of how they learn that becomes a barrier. I am very sensitive students need to feel empowered, hence I seek to teach the students skills that eventually lead to not needing me or any other tutor.
I am an individual driven by the desire to learn. I have a Master's in Education with a triple major, certified to teach two of the three. A Little Bit About Me...

The best way to describe my teaching style is flexible. I don't limit myself to one style because I've never taught one type of child. Students are diverse and as a teacher my style of teaching must also be diverse. I believe in modeling and hands-on learning experiences. Students need to see new concepts worked through correctly. They should then show understanding of material through such processes as reteaching and through real world application whenever possible.
My experience in education is vast. I have earned a BA in elementary education. I have worked for eight years as a teacher in the education field. I also have a MAED in Early Childhood. I have also taught a Kindergarten class in church school for a year as well as serving as church school superintendent. The first thing I do with any new student is identify his or her learning style so that I may incorporate those specific strategies into my lesson for an effective and personalized learning experience. My lessons are very interactive, and a main aspect is to nurture critical thinking. After setting up a situation, I will pose problems for the student to solve. Critical thinking is necessary in order to navigate foreign grammar and truly understand the material.
