My comments on tutoring Chemistry : Took AP chemistry in high school and college chemistry and aced the classes.

I like students to understand how the material they are learning can and is being applied to everyday situations. So I often will talk about the big topics that have been covered explain why they are useful and then show the student how to perform various calculations or apply the nessecary logic to solve problems.
I am a Mechanical Engineering and Geology dual major with a 3.6 GPA. I understand mathematics very well and have tutored fellow students in math and physics, successfully for years. It is important to understand that, as a science tutor, you should not employ one teaching strategy but tried to incorporate differ methods. A great example would be a bowl of salad. There is such variety and different types of the same thing that goes in a bowl of salad. Teaching is the same way. You have to work with different teaching methods but still able to put it together and have it still looking good. I believe that not every teaching strategy do not always work with every student’s needs. One student might not understand anything he has read, but he might understand through a demonstration activity.
