My comments on tutoring GRE : I received a perfect score of 6 in the writing section of the GRE. If you are applying to any type of communications or literary graduate school, I would be of great assistance to help you prepare.

I like to start the initial session by evaluation my student's strengths and areas needing improvement. I like to offer editing assistance and answer questions in every session. I like to make the tutoring sessions to be as relaxed and comfortable as possible. It is a learning environment, not a lecture classroom.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a college senior, I've come to value greatly my education. Prior to enrolling at the University of Georgia, I made a perfect 800 on the math section of my SATs. Even though I am a science major, I have a great understanding of math. Currently, I tutor middle schoolers in basic algebra, most of whom are struggling and need a lot of help. I have also recently finished an entire college online algebra course online for someone with a 96 average.
My strongest suit in my teaching style is probably the many ways that I would approach teaching a certain principle. If the student does not understand one way to approach a problem, I try to best to help them understand and learn another way. I feel like since everyone learns differently, a tutor should approach a problem from as many angles as possible. My teaching style is also very patient. I suppose the saying "give a man a fis ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I feel that teaching will not only inform young minds to think differently or make them more motivated to learn. But to allow one to master his or her knowledge in general, teaching allows oneself to fully understand the subject in their own minds. Young minds such as children are easily impacted by an adult, which I feel that that should be influenced with positive, enjoyable learning. Allowing a young mind to like learning or studying will allow them to become very motivated individuals in life. I will only strive to make a positive difference in a child's life and let them enjoy the simple discoveries of learning.
Being a Georgia Southern graduate, I learned to enforce high level thinking and appreciation of education. I received a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering Technology, which has enabled me to get a feel of hands feel in the area of math and science. With previou ... read more

I love teaching and helping people understand subjects, especially math. Rather than focus on formulas and rote knowledge, I strive to help the student actually understand the rationale behind the formulas so that they can relate the knowledge to the real world. My teaching style is one of facilitation. I emphasize student-centered learning where I provide learning situations and activities that are designed to help the student process and apply the knowledge. Having students think for themselves is the best way to reinforce and integrate a subject into the student's knowledge base.

I believe in following the Socratic method in my teaching, and encourage students to ask questions and take command of their own learning. Frequently I will have the students take turns presenting problems or answers to questions that they have asked me themselves in class before. I've found that occasionally the best way for a student to learn is to have them research the answers to their questions on their own, and present their findings to the class as a whole. It is through teaching each other that students learn best.
I graduated high school in 2001 and spent three years abroad in Japan, teaching English as a second language. Afterwards I completed my undergraduate education with a BA in economics and math. While attending college I worked my way through school tutoring both math and economics classes. Upon graduation, I started my post graduate career at the University ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with children and to see them successful is the most important goal in my tutoring career. I believe all children can succeed when available resources and optimal guidance are given to them. My style of teaching will be a combination of graphics, PowerPoint presentations, books and small gift incentives when scoring high on my exams. I myself is a successful Ivy League alumni from Columbia University Medical Center and I firmly believe my methods will yield superior results.
I believe my academic background has adequately prepared me to help students in most math and sciences. Through my graduate studies at Columbia University, I obtained knowledge of many physical hazards in the environment, particularly ionizing radiation. I earned a BS in Computer Science from Berry College with a minor in Animal Science and one class short of a second minor in English. During my senior year I worked as a teaching assistant, helping the freshman programming class complete their assignments as well as grading their work and running study sessions. I just finished a master's in computer science at Rice University (degree to be awarded December 2010) and during my time at Rice I was a TA both for their freshman class as well as for the advanced Operating Systems class. Before I graduated I spent summers teaching horseback riding to children. Currently, I am independently tutoring a sixth grader in math twice a week.

A Little Bit About Me...

Depending on the students aptitude my teaching style varies. I like to get to know how the student advances and think and considering those aspects i try to make them understand. I like my students to ask me a lot of questions for which i have a lot of patience. I also make my students think pro-actively by asking them a few questions just in order to develop their style of exploring ideas and looking more deep into the problem.
I have an advanced degree in engineering and a vast tutoring and in-class teaching experience while being at University of Delaware. I have M.S in Electrical Engineering. I find an interactive, Socratic teaching style in which I encourage the student to discover the answers on their own to understand why something works the way it does is a very effective approach for me rather than just lecturing, particularly for younger learners. I find it equally important for students to understand the why of what they are learning as well as the how and the what. I believe that students' multiple intelligences should be harnessed and that if students don't understand information presented initially, it is up to the teacher to find different ways of presenting the information so that the student can make it his or her own.
I have over 11 years of experience providing in home tutoring to individual high school, elementary school, and middle school students as well as adults for test preparation as well as for academic subject preparation. I have also had 6 ye ... read more
