During the last 10 years I have worked with all levels of students, preschool through college levels. These areas include reading, math, english, psychology, science and social studies. I am a self starter and have worked with parents when I owned/operated my private daycare. I have since then worked with children in low poverty communities in Atlanta Georgia, in order to provide an alternative method to learning to ensure that children receive the appropriate level of understanding of various subjects.

I have always had an avid love of learning. I attempt to make my students love it too. I try to incorporate things the students like into the lessons (for example, I used football scoring to explain mathematic concepts to a 10 year old boy). I also am a firm believer that mistakes are part of the learning process; if you are able to see where you went wrong and fix it, you have succeeded in understanding the material.

In high school, I was the typical overachiever. I played varsity baseball, led many school organizations, and was at the top of my class. School, especially math subjects, came easy to me, but that is not the case with everyone. Therefore, I wanted to find a way to help students in these areas. During sophomore year, I was approached by high school administration to tutor students, on a one-on-one basis after school, on math subjects. I use all methods of second language acquisition in my teaching. Most of the exercises I use to help beginning are communicative methods. It's better to get them speaking and writing and build their confidence than to just use rote memorization or drills. If I think the audio-lingual method will help a more advanced student, I suggest and practice this method with them. If reading in the language with the translation side by side helps, we will practice that. I bear all forms of cognitive learning in mind when tutoring a student.
