A Little Bit About Me...

I am a high school senior in the AP/Honors program at Warner Robins High School. I have two little sisters who I have tutored since they began school. On average, they have scored higher on tests when I have helped, particularly in the area of social studies. I have also helped multiple students at my school. The average that they score on a test is typically ten points higher than when they study by themselves and, in some cases, twenty points if the student does not study at all. The results are typically better in social studies, the subject which I am most proficient in, but all subjects tend to shoe significant improvement.
I am hands on. I personally learn best from things like powerpoints and handouts. This is also the way I tend to teach others.

An Exceptional Teacher for Exceptional Students!

I am a former Special Education teacher from Bibb County. I taught in a interrelated classroom in both the elementary school level, and the middle school level. What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.

All throughout my school years, I was a highly motivated student. I was in the accelerated programs from first grade to my senior year in high school. During high school I was not only in the accelerated english program, I also took many Advanced Placement classes and was on the accelerated math track. I was even able to finish my bachelor degree in International Affairs in three years. During my senior year in high school, I tutored my student in all of his subjects (math, social studies, science, and english). In high school, I was the typical overachiever. I played varsity baseball, led many school organizations, and was at the top of my class. School, especially math subjects, came easy to me, but that is not the case with everyone. Therefore, I wanted to find a way to help students in these areas.
