I have a BA in English and am writing my thesis for a MA in Humanities. I have been a tutor and have worked with children for over 10 years. I like to work with students individually, but sometimes a group is fine. I have the student read the assigned reading, Ask student to sound out words they are having trouble with. If they cannot read selection and it is short I will have them read it again. Longer selections are broken into parts. Drama is more flexible, tapping into emotions, and developing character styles
Worked as a Teacher's assistant with Learning disabled student's in a classroom setting. Tutored students in reading who were learning disabled. My goal was to teach my student's to read well enough to fill in job applications. Those on a third grade reading level, reached a fifth grade reading level or better. When I tutored them. Three years drama, I have done community theater.

My greatest strength lies with my patience with children and flexibility to see what style of learning enables the child to best master the subject.
