My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : Can answer the question, what is of importance and why?

As a student, I earned a 3.87 in my major of English Arts, while both working as an employee for the school writing center and as a contributor for the school newspaper. I also did a lot of moonlighting outside of the writing center as a personal tutor for undergrads, high school, and elementary students, all with various experience in English as a language. I have produced over a thousand pages of academic writing during my time at school concerning a wide variety of subjects, which is a reflection of the broad English curriculum for the University at Albany and my minor of sociology. Whenever possible, I use highlighters, colored pencils, hands-on manipulatives, and other items to help students learn.
I have been teaching elementary students since 1995 in 1st and 4th grades. I have taught all subject areas, especially language arts and math. I want to encourage students to think for themselves and to work through their learning in a way that makes sense to them. A Little Bit About Me...

I have received my degree in accounting as well as an MBA in international business with a high GPA. I have been in the tax accounting field for 15 years working in large corporations as well as small and large public accounting firms. I have also taught at the local junior college instructing various accounting classes (i.e. Intermediate Accounting I & II, Income Tax, Cost Accounting and Information Systems for Accounting) on a part-time basis over a 5 year time period. Since I have worked in the tax field for 15 years, I have gained a lot of knowledge and expertise of how accounting is reported for various companies.
