Tutoring is one of my favorite jobs. I really enjoy helping students understand that they absolutely can understand a subject, and the one-on-one, focused nature of tutoring fits my personality very well. I am encouraging and very patient, but no pushover: I realize that the best way for a student to remember a concept is to play an active role in figuring it out. A Little Bit About Me...

As a Junior in college I made the decision to become a teacher. The decision was based on the observation that a majority of teachers are over worked and don't have the time to provide the individual attention some students require. I performed my student teaching at a small school called Central Heights. I taught Physical Education- grades K-8, Physical Education-Freshman Boys, and 3rd Grade-all subjects. I also performed in-class reading requirements in a 2nd Grade classroom. By far, the biggest issue I have found with students with difficulty learning mathematics or the sciences is that there is a lack of motivation to learn, primarily because they do not understand the implications of the knowledge in front of them. Because I have studied physics, mathematics, and completed the pre-medicine curriculum at my university, I am brimming with knowledge of these applications. Once my students have gained an understand of all the cool stuff we can do with knowledge in these avenues, they tend to absorb concepts much more readily.
