I completed volunteer courses in “Brevard Reads” “Rolling Readers” and completed over 150 volunteer hours in Brevard schools while in the major. In small groups we went over elementary math skills, science, social studies, and reading. During my 2009 semester I volunteered as a teaching assistant in a Montessori school for children with Dyslexia and various reading difficulties. In relation to the tutoring position, I have a year of experience in tutoring grammar school students in math and reading. As a graduate student at Mississppi State University, I was a teacher assistant for 2 years in Introduction to World Geography. These are the only two jobs I have had that are related to job that I am applying for.
Personally, I enjoy everything about education. I believe that if you can educate a person, then doors are opened for them. I am the type of tutor that gives basic instructions, then I allow the student to try a few things on their own. If they struggle, then I will step in and help them. I prefer to go over the same material as much as needed until the student is comfortable with the subject matter. Then, I like to move on to a new subject.
