A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated with my Bachelors from the University of Tennessee. My degree is in English, but I have tons of experience tutoring in just about everything. The ages I have tutored most is older elementary, middle, and high schools as well as college. I can especially help prepare students for college and help them succeed in college. I am very passionate about working and helping students. I have the approach that all students can learn and be strong in any subject, but some students learn differently than others. Some students just need a different approach to certain areas, and more one-on-one help. However, I do believe that the student also has a responsibility to try to better oneself and not depend on someone to give them the answers, but this does not mean that they do not need a little help along the way. While earning my MA in English, I spent two years tutoring students in English and training/mentoring other tutors. For the last two years, I have been designing and delivering trianing curriculum. I have plans to return to Middle Tennessee State University in January 2012 to earn my PhD in Math and Science Education.
I love helping people, particularly children, reach their full potential by becoming life-long learners. A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating with an English major and a minor in secondary education from Union University, I moved to Nashville to begin my graduate degree. I finished with my MA in English from Belmont University while teaching full-time. I have spent the last 15 years teaching all levels of English in grades 8-12. I currently teach 11th and 12th grade English, and I am also a Dual Enrollment adjunct professor for a local community college. I teach Written Composition 1010 and 1020, along with American Literature 2110 and American Literature 2120. During my fifteen years, I have also taught Honors and Advanced Placement English.
