I taught in private schools in California for 15 years ( 1980-1994). I started as a teacher, then became a Media Specialist, then a Vice Principal and finally a principal. I moved to Indiana in 1994, where I taught in public school for 3 years. We moved back to California in 2000. Since that time I have served as a Library Media Specialist and Reading Teacher. I don't think there is a better feeling then to see a student be proud they were able master something they thought impossible. If I had to say what method I used to teach students, I would have to say that every student is different, and that what works for one may not work for the other. I would say my approach would be to first understand what may be causing them to struggle, then working from there to teach them to be confident in their ability, and providing the appropriate tools needed to succeed.

I believe that every child deserves an equal opportunity at receiving a good education. Although each child may pursue differnet educational opportunities in later years, I believe that there is a core body of knowledge, presented to us in the curriculum, that each can and should be exposed to while they are in the lower. However, I realize that all children do not learn new concepts and strategies by the same methods or at the same rate as one another.
