A Little Bit About Me...

All throughout high school I tutored younger kids with homework or specific needs in classes. I'm very flexible and very hands-on with my teaching. As a visual learner, it helps me to have a visual aid whenever I can and I employ that in my teaching. My strategy is to make learning fun for the students. If I can't enjoy what I'm learning, then I won't learn it and as such I strive to make whatever I'm teaching enjoyable for the student.

I believe learning should be fun and creative and that children should have an environment that is friendly and caring to learn in. I think teachers should be patient with their difficulties and take time to give them the one on one attention that they need. I like thematic units and hands on activities. I like to teach reading and english. I like to use whole group, small groups, paired reading activities. I believe a child can learn any subject put before him/her. With the belief that a child can learn, it is my challenge to find out what style of learning best fits each child being tutored. When teaching I take the time to present materials one way, and if the student doesn't comprhend I will present it another way. My goal is to help each student meet his or her potential.
I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2006 wiht a degree in Psychology. While attending USM I taught a combined class Of 3rd And 4th grades. for the past 16 years I have tutor Reading, Math, History, and basic science to children in my family and community. I also substitute teach for 3 school districts.
