Students learn best when they are engaged in an environment where they feel confident to express their individual personalities. Creating a community of learners in a classroom from the very first day of school is a key element to a positive learning environment. A mutual respect between the teacher and the students needs to be established and maintained throughout the school year. Learning requires an environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, sharing opinions, expressing areas of confusion, providing assistance to others, and communicating in a positive manner. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe learning should be fun and creative and that children should have an environment that is friendly and caring to learn in. I think teachers should be patient with their difficulties and take time to give them the one on one attention that they need. I like thematic units and hands on activities. I like to teach reading and english. I like to use whole group, small groups, paired reading activities. I like to use magazines, newspapers, children's books and other materials that interest the students to teach reading.

I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2006 wiht a degree in Psychology. While attending USM I taught a combined class Of 3rd And 4th grades. for the past 16 years I have tutor Reading, Math, History, and basic science to children in my family and community. I also substitute teach for 3 school districts.
I believe a child can learn any subject put before him/her. With the belief that a child can learn, it is my challenge to find out what style of learning best fits each child being tutored. When teaching I take the time to present materials one way, and if the student doesn't comprhend I will present it another way. My goal is to help each student meet his or her potential.
