My comments on tutoring Spelling : Spelling has always come easily to me, having competed in a few spelling bees in my youth. English is a wonderfully diverse language, and its spelling idiosyncrasies are always fun but demanding. I would like to help others master this challenging subject.

I consider myself a facilitator of knowledge, encouraging my students to discover answers for themselves. To me, the process of acquiring knowledge is as important as the knowledge itself. With gentle prodding, building on what students already know, they progress quickly through problems and/or assignments. Students know much more than they think they know. Because they are doing their own thinking, they're already invested in the process. When their answers come, they own them. This increases their confidence in tackling more challenging work & in realizing their own potential. The knowledge is out there, waiting to be discovered. The best successes come after their greatest disappointments

I like to make my tutoring sessions productive by encouraging students to work hard to complete the taste in order to receive a reward in the form of a game or something they enjoy doing. I am very thorough in correcting assignments and make sure they fully understand the concept they are working on. I am very helpful in stimulating critical thinking for creative writing assignments.

I love working with children and adults!

I am an informal teacher because I do not yet have the experience teaching in a formal setting accept for writing lesson plans for language arts. Otherwise, I am looking forward to working with adults and children on their studies because they need the help.
I have experience in being a student in both business, math, science and language arts. I hired tutors for my children and I tutored my children but I have not begun to tudor myself. I worked in both of their labs, and I was only a freshman! By studying in their research groups, I gained the experience necessary to intern at Sea Life Park Hawaii. In fact, I was published in 2007 after working for Dr. Charlie Cox in the Chemistry Department. I attended public schools and local community college before going on to graduate with high honors from the University of Hawaii. I moved to the mainland and worked full-time while obtaining my masters degree from USC. I've helped my 19 year old son through high school (he has a learning disability in math) and my 21 year old daughter with her business classes.
Both my parents were teachers and I enjoyed teaching as well.
