A Little Bit About Me...

Basic piano geared towards student interest level. Many of my students have quit piano from other teachers because they were bored or forced to play the same classical song for 4 months until it was perfect. I engage the student.
I began playing piano at the age of 5. At 13 I started teaching piano in Hawaii Kai at the request of neighbors and the business has continued all these years. One of my former students is a police office now, one is a prosecuting attorney, one sailed on the Hokulea. I have great pride in feeling that my small role as a teacher helped steer them towards a successful career. We all know that music instruction helps students do better at school. The best successes come after their greatest disappointments

I have experience with pre k to 8th grade tutoring in Math and English tutoring to help students prepare for Iolani and Punahou entrance exams through Dr. Takahashi Juku. I have also worked extensively with children from Japan who struggle with English. I can explain English words and grammar in Japanese and well as read and write Japanese .
I like to make my tutoring sessions productive by encouraging students to work hard to complete the taste in order to receive a reward in the form of a game or something they enjoy doing. I am very thorough in correcting assignments and make sure they fully understand the concept they are working on. I am very helpful in stimulating critical thinking for creative writing assignments.

Creative Writing is one of my top subjects!

I have experience in being a student in both business, math, science and language arts. I hired tutors for my children and I tutored my children but I have not begun to tudor myself. I am looking forward to the experience of tutoring and hope that each experience is fun and worth the money. If not, I will refund the money.
I am an informal teacher because I do not yet have the experience teaching in a formal setting accept for writing lesson plans for language arts. Otherwise, I am looking forward to working with adults and children on their studies because they need the help.

My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : Participant in the "Wild Mind Writers Group" for two years. One year graduate level writing at the University of Hawaii for Philosphy courses including 500, 600 and 700 level graduate level courses in Philosophy. Have written two Masters Degree papers, one capstone and one Thesis.

I have two masters degrees. I have taught music. My employment involves being the IT manager for an automobile dealership. I have dealt with just about every type of PC Problem, hardware, software, e-mail, website security, etc. I also do the bookkeeping for the enterprise. I have my own income tax service. Also, I fix PCs. As far as the creative side, I attend a writers group in which we do creative writing. I have been to over 10 colleges and pretty much understand pedagogy. Pedagogy is how they teach and how you learn. The more advanced the courses you take the less they help or guide you. You're on your own. They hand you a syllabus, and say go figure it out. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching experience includes teaching Kindergarden and second grade in Guam, than I taught 4 years for the Department of Defense in Germany. I now live in Hawaii and have taught for the Department of Education Special Education, and English As A Second Language with Adult Eeducation. I have my own private tutoring students and teach them reading, writing, grammar, social studies, math etc. I also tutor for the home hospitalization program for the Department of Education.
Special Education classes, working with the student's IEP, one on one tutoring working with multi-sensory learning, and focusing on the student's educational goals.
