Degreed engineer with a love for math and science. Just ask if there is a math or science class you need help with. My teaching style starts in a classroom like setting, and then I modify it from there to best fit the student. One of the best physics professors I had was able to get us not only to learn physics inside the classroom, but point out the laws of physics we noticed in everyday life. This teaching style is very much the way that I tutor students today.

PROFESSOR-CHEMISTRY & PHYSICS

For many years, I worked in industries and electric energy nuclear plants from where I retired. Thereafter, I have devoted my time to academia; teaching chemistry (General, Physical, Organic, Inorganic, Nuclear).I consider myself an enthusiastic, benevolent educator, dedicated to making a difference in young people's lives by creating an atmosphere conducive to active learning and exploration. I am gifted with ability to explain complex concepts in a relatable manner, allowing students to understand the material better. I motivate students to overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.
I base my teaching style and principle on "examples are the best teacher." I support my lectures with and by working examples.

Physics is one of my top subjects! I took the AP Physics exam in tenth grade and got a five on it. I have also done extensive extracurricular studying of physics. I know classical mechanics, classical electrodynamics, special relativity and quantum mechanics well, and am familiar with quantum field theory.

From my tutoring experience I have noticed that most students who have trouble understanding a difficult concept do so because they did not understand a more basic prerequisite concept, so I try to help students "fill in the gaps." When working with students, I work through a few problems with them, and then I have them do a few problems on their own to see if they understand. If I see that the student does not understand some prerequisite concepts required to solve the problems, I make sure to have them understand those concepts before continuing with the current problems.
I gained my first tutoring experience by explaining difficult concepts to classmates that were struggling. I have been a tutor on WyzAnt for about half a year now. I have tutored math and physics students both at the high school and college level. All of the students that I worked with rated my lessons positivel ... read more

My comments on tutoring Physics : Took Newtonian physics and electro-magnetic physics (calc based, however algebraic expressions can be derived from calculus therefore well experienced in the algebraic physics as well.)

I like students to understand how the material they are learning can and is being applied to everyday situations. So I often will talk about the big topics that have been covered explain why they are useful and then show the student how to perform various calculations or apply the nessecary logic to solve problems.
I am a Mechanical Engineering and Geology dual major with a 3.6 GPA. I understand mathematics very well and have tutored fellow students in math and physics, successfully for years. I have a passion for learning and love when I can help others learn complex material and pass classes. About my role as a teacher, I think that the main principle should be “teaching for understanding”. A teacher creates learning opportunities that engage students in thinking about important mathematical concepts. Facts and skills support such learning but are not the ultimate goal. A teacher not only draws on past knowledge of mathematics but continuously builds on and refines that knowledge during meaningful interactions with students and colleagues. Thus, her or his practice as a teacher is constantly evolving

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and it is in my blood. My father taught for 39 years in Philadelphia public schools and my Grandmother and brother were and are teachers. I would describe my style as energetic, fun and creative. I know that different students learn in different ways. Sometimes a rhyme helps with memorization or an analogy helps you understand a concept.I take a vested interest in getting to know all my students and what works for them.I firmly believe that they do not care what you know til they know that you care.I believe teachers most important job is to teach students how to learn. If you can help them develop that skill they will be much more effective students.

I have earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering and completed 20 hours toward a MA in Teaching. In response to a desperate need for math teachers in urban schools, I completed an alternative certification program offered through Chicago Public Schools and National Louis University while teaching high school math. Through my education I have gained an extensive knowledge of Math, Chemistry and Physics and advanced Engineering concepts. I have also been trained in SAT and ACT test preparation, so I am very familiar with grammar, reading comprehension and strong essay writing techniques. Over the last 15 years, I have tutored students ranging from Jr. High through college in all these areas.

A Little Bit About Me...

I obtained an engineering degree, but my strong passion is teaching because I enjoy to see people learn and improve. After years of help and mentor others, I have very good technique of teaching which works very effective to every student. I Always find the original cause that make student misunderstand or fall behind, change the bad habit(s), teach the item(s) that he or she is missing. To complete such a task, it requires a very good communication skills, interpersonal and knowledge to make student trust, respect, improve, and enjoy.

When teaching, I create an environment that makes students want to learn. I encourage them to ask questions and quickly say when they do not understand. I help students overcome their academic weaknesses by ensuring a risk-free learning environment. I believe that children learn best when they discuss and explain content to others. As a teacher or tutor, I am always articulate, patient and very enthusiastic.
I have done extensive training, seminars and workshops to become an effective tutor. As a native French speaker, I taught all levels of the French language to Peace Corps volunteers for two years. I also tutored students ages 13-16 in math and physics.
