I believe in Minimalism. I tutor Math from the point of view that the shortest path is the best path but everyone learns differently and finding the right method for my students is one of my main goals when tutoring. I teach students multiple ways to solve a particular problems and they get to decide which method works best for them, hopefully its the simplest method. Public School class rooms have 30 plus students and only one instructor. The low instructor to student ratio makes it difficult for more then one method to be taught leaving some students behind. I led a semester long Beacon tutoring supplement course in Organic Chemistry that supported 20 junior college students. I have effectively tutored/mentored a number of high school students in general education coursework, organizational skills, and in preparation for exit examinations. I have conducted community based math group sessions for junior high and high school students. Finally, I have supported 1st and 2nd grade elementary school students in math and reading comprehension.
