My comments on tutoring Drawing : I have been drawing all my life. I focus more on abstract art and some realism. I also know other styles of mark making other than the use of graphite on paper.

I like to give a hands on demonstration and then offer support and constructive criticism to those who are learning. Art should be fun and an extended expression of the individual wanting to learn more about it.
I have been an artist since day one of my existence. I followed my passion for art throughout my educational career and pursued a Bachelors of Fine arts from San Jose State University. My students often say I can’t be a teacher because they “just get it" when I explain. Even so, my degree is in math and I've taught professionally and privately. I have a history of maintaining high scores and would rather show why something works than how to follow steps. I don't expect students to love math or do it "my way" but I want students to know math isn't scary. To this end, I explain every step, do assessments to determine student needs and base instruction on student knowledge. I believe anyone can teach a subject, having enough knowledge of a subject allows one to pass it on. However, I feel what many teachers do not do is teach students how to learn. It is in my belief that teaching students to learn enables them to think independently allowing them to become more creative rather than repetitive.
