I earned a well rounded education from Western Kentucky University with a strong emphasis in math / Engineering. Since College I have pursued the Surveying field. I have recently obtained the status of Professional Land Surveyor with the State of Kentucky. I have taught young graduates surveying practices in relation to the Engineering field while in management positions. I would be very excited about teaching children. I like to ask questions and get the student involved. I like to get the student engaged as much as possible. I would like to observe the method in which the student obtains the most information and expound on that variable, triggering many senses for better memorization. My teaching style would consist of trying to get the student to understand what they are studying which is considerably better than just simple short term memorization.

While earning my degrees in biochemistry and psychology, I found many opportunities to tutor. I worked for four years in the department of Minority Affairs as a tutor of calculus, biology, and general and organic chemistry, but the majority of my students sought assistance in chemistry. I also worked for a year as a volunteer tutor in the Honors Tutoring Committee of Tennessee Technological University and then served for several more years as an Honors Tutoring Committee Co-Chair. Tutoring is one of the most challenging, but rewarding, endeavors that I have undertaken. My experience as a teacher and instructor has been centered around my experience as a musician. Learning how to play and read music drastically helped me in school in all of my other subject areas. I knew early on that I would continue to play music and also that I would want to stay involved with music in some way. I earned a degree in music education in 2001 and although I didn't begin my public school teaching experiences until 2003 I began teaching private lessons and tutoring other students while still in high school.
