Experience Summary
I attended Middle Tennessee State University from spring 1993-fall 1997, graduating in Dec. 1997 (B.S. degree). My major is art educ., my minor is secondary educ. My teaching license was in art educ./K-12. I was a member of The Gamma Beta Phi Society, the top 15% of my class. My gpa was 3.2 and I won two scholarships. I did my student teaching at the Lebanon High and at the Las Cassas Elementary Schools in fall 1997. I taught art at Mt. Juliet Elementary School, and taught private adult & children’s art classes at An Invitation to the Dance studio in Murfreesboro and at the Murfreesboro Art League. I have tutored several students (math, guitar, riding, reading, art, etc.)and worked mostly in the graphic and fine arts for my living.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and enjoy working with people of all ages. I am available to teach the following subjects: math, science, ancient history, paleontology, archaeology, writing, mythology, reading music, musical instruments/basic beginner classes (guitar, violin, mandolin, banjo, dulcimer), Visual arts (drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic arts, fashion design), gardening, herbs, horseback riding, and more. I am a firm believer in teaching by allowing the student to be more interactive - more hands on. I find that students learn more quickly if they can be physically involved in the process, and that they retain more information this way. I look forward to working with you!
