Being very active in higher education, I find myself taking on the roles of educator often. I have a strong background in the natural sciences with a BS in Horticulture, MS in Crop & Soil Environmental Science and PhD in Environmental Design and Planning. Throughout my education I have also written many technical and scientific documents and could offer guidance in this area as well. I have recently completed student teaching and have earned my teaching certificate as an art specialist. I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students at different levels with varying abilities. I have had internships at the high school and elementary levels, with time spent both in the art classroom as well as the special education classroom. I believe that each and every student has an ability to learn and it is necessary to find a method of teaching conducive to the individual. For example, I was a student that learned though hands on activities and writing. Having a teacher stand and lecture never appealed to me. Other children, and adults, may be more apt to retain through reading or repetition.
