Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I have over 40 years experience working with children and adolescents with dyslexia. I have a thriving private practice in Asheville and work closely with children and families as well as teaching through the Orton-Gillingham Approach. A Little Bit About Me...

I do not have a particular style of teaching. I prefer to talk to the individual I am tutoring and together discover the best way to teach them the subject material. I believe that everyone learns information at a different pace and that some information is easier to process than other information. I believe that individuals should be comfortable while learning in order for them to actually learn. I would never force someone to learn "my way" and would work with them on developing a way that works for both of us. I would also focus on teaching proper study habits so the individuals can apply them and possibly not need a tutor in the future.

As a graduate from an accredited college, I have learned and excelled as a science major. I have earned a BA in Biology, which has enabled me to obtain a well rounded education, which focused on math and science. I believe in good classroom management and organized lesson plans. I set appropriate boundaries and expect the students to follow the rules that are set before them.
