A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Philosophy. Currently, I am finishing my M.A. degree in Mathematics Education. I have over 6 years of math tutoring experience, and about 3 years of formal math teaching experience. I have tutored students various levels of math such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, and introduction to proof writing. I have also tutored beginning physics.
My teaching style is very simple. I want to make sure that students understand the concept, so they can succeed in their math classes. I have the ability to model concepts by providing students specific examples. I believe that everyone has the ability to do mathematics. I have taught 4 upper division business courses at the University of Arizona: Management and Organizational Behavior, strategy (Eller capstone course Management Policies), business environments and employment law (The Legal, Political and Social Environments of Business), and statistics (Statistical Inferences in Management). I left a Ph.D. program in Organizational Behavior (think Management)with a MS to care for family. I have been a substitute teacher for K-8th grade. I have followed a successful 12+ year career in Human Resource Management and now own my own HR Consulting firm.
What is needed? I like an inclusive interactive style that directly involves the learner. I like to evaluate performance in a varety of methods to determine actual learning. As a University Instructor I was known for being fun, approachable and honest and a hard grader.
