Give Real life experience a try

Experience throughout school, work and personal experience dealing with the mentally challenged and dyslexia. my best friend had a son who was dyslexic and also he had ADD and I got him to trust me in babysitting and I taught him various things. I taught him how to read and write he could not accomplish that on his own. He was 11 at the time and I think with kids you have to be creative to teach them and I am very creative. I also have an aunt who is mentally handicapped, and I love spending time with her she is a very giving person. They teach me and it is always a joy to work with them and give something back.

My teaching style might be a bit unorthodox but it is something I have acquired from past teachers and tutors. I have not helped or tutored in a while but I believe I have an easy and simple approach to it. When it comes to physics and chemistry, the math can be learned over night, the concepts are most critical. You can't read a problem and interpret the question word for word. You have to find a way to relate it to real life and what you see everyday. A spinning disk becomes a truck tire, a sound device becomes a sub woofer. Things that you can relate to.

Through my extensive teaching experience I have learned that everyone can do math if they are given the right steps and tools at a pace that works for them. I use lots of examples in my teaching. I have found that so many students don't have a belief in themselves with math and they need to know that their teacher believes they can do it. I go through each concept and make sure my students understand how to do it before moving on to the next concept. I also teach my students that there is more than one way to get to the right answer and I teach the skills that let them find the way that works best for each of them. When it comes to math, there is always more than one way to attack the problem at hand and each method appeals to different students. I usually start off with one and I can quickly tell if another would be more effective for each individual since I've noticed everyone has different styles of learning. I do believe everything mathematical can be taught and learned - there are no lost causes when it comes to math.
I received my BS in Electrical Engineering in December. I was one of two who graduated under the Honor's Program and maintained a 3.72 GPA. I've been tutoring math ever since my second semester in college and even while I was in high school. I've taken Calculus 3, differential equations, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics and received an A in each of them.
