My total years as a teacher in the public schools in Texas is a total of fifteen years. One year as a high school teacher and fourteen years as an elementary teacher. My work experience also consisted of eighteen years as a elementary certified counselor in Texas elementary schools. My work in clinical psychology has been mostly with children, the severely mentally ill, and abuse cases. My last full time position was teaching high school material in a one room school to students who were wards of the state. I taught anger management for the local courts for eight years. One of the most important things a teacher of Language Arts can get a student to do is write. The more a student writes, the more in tune they become with their own style of expression. This not only aids in prose development, but also communication in all forms. I believe that all children are capable of understanding parts of speech and writing well. Teaching is my passion. Students need to be challenged, engaged, and eager to learn which is fueled by the enthusiasm of the teacher. I recognize that not every student in my classroom learns in the same manner. Various teaching methods need to be combined so that students have the opportunity to learn in multiple ways.
