After completing my student teaching at Fort Campbell High School in Kentucky I was offered a position to teach English at another one of the military schools located on the base. I had thoroughly enjoyed teaching Senior English-it presented a challenge to me as I was only 22 and my "students" were 17 and 18 years old. I taught middle school Language Arts for three years and thoroughly enjoyed watching my students excel. It thrilled me each time they grasped a new part of speech or attempted a new writing style. I have degrees in English and Physical Education and have learned to draw from sports as a teaching tool for those sports-minded students.
One of the most important things a teacher of Language Arts can get a student to do is write. The more a student writes, the more in tune they become with their own style of expression.
