Painting Tutors & Teachers for Lessons, Instruction or Help in Lower Lake, CA

I have taken 13 years of private art class, going through painting, drawing, sketching, sculpting. Oils, Acrylics, and Watercolors. (Oils and Acrylics are preferred). I would say my teaching style is really focused on the student and what they need. In school I was an average student never getting lower than a C or higher than in an A. So I really want to focus on listening to the student, especially because they probably are not heard at school. I want to make each subject interesting to the student, whether that means going out and playing basketball or chess or candy or anything the student absolutely loves. I want to attach each subject to a good memory, I don't want to pressure them or push them to just memorize facts that I know they will probably forget after they are tested. I have been in the field of education for approximately 14 years of which the last 8 years have been special education. I have worked with students of all ages, on all skill levels and many with learning disabilities through 8th grade. I have discovered over the past year of substituting that I absolutely love teaching. Students are very comfortable with me as I am a very positive, friendly person who smiles a lot. As the parent of a college student, I was a tutor for 12 years. I know how to make learning fun and rewarding. I have a BS in Business and have worked in Mortgage and Banking for many years. This industry requires excellent written communication skills as well as practical math skills. I have worked with children age 0 to 17 over the years. I tutored my daughters friends when she was in High School in History and some English especially literacy. My primary experience is with preschoolers but I have also been a day camp counselor for 3rd graders, a Girl scout Cadette leader and volunteered at the teen center. I look at each student as an individual. I think it is important to determine which teaching style works for that person. I would use this information to choose the best method for each student. I think it is important to make learning fun at every age. Education should not be a chore but something to embrace. It would be one of my goals to limit fears or mental blocks that a student may have because they think they can't do it. I would focus on each students potential for success.
