A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with children since I was 13. I have worked in settings where I was a daycare worker, a nanny, and a substitute teacher. I believe that every child has thier own unique way of learning even though there may be a mainstream way of teaching. I like to see where a child is and then go from there to see what would be the best way to help them learn new things.

I believe that first key step to successful teaching is to allows the student convey his/her needs or problem areas. While much can be gained from looking at previous evaluations and test scores, I think that it is crucial to let the student express their needs to make them feel comfortable and build a commitment to the teaching program. In individual sessions, I feel that allowing the student to discuss concepts out loud in addition to completing written exercises and preparing questions facilitates the learning process. I also find that real world analogies are useful ways of linking academic information to previously learned concepts and facilitate the student's understanding. I recently relocated to the Huntersville area. I recently graduated from UNCW with a degreee in Psychology with a focus on children. Since middle school, working with children has been my passion. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that my teaching style is very hands on and easy to follow. I have the ability of simplifying statistical and mathematical procedures into easier, more understandable terms. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style has been to make learning fun and easy to remember. When I have taught I've been very interactive with the students and have gotten many compliments from students and patients as well, on my ability to communicate on almost any level.
In Medical School, Residency and practice I have always been expected to be in the simultaneous role of student, teacher, mentor and tutor. I have been working with children since I was thirteen. I am an avid reader and enjoy sharing that and reading with children.
