Turning your weakness into your strength

I have been tutoring for over seven years, starting with my peers in tenth grade. I have tutored a wide range of subjects, from Geometry through Calculus III, from general computer knowledge through utilizing the advanced functions of Microsoft Access. I have tutored people ranging from my peers to people three times my age, to as young as third graders. My motto has evolved into "Helping those who feel they can not be helped"
I help guide the student along, having them discover much of the information in a trial and error fashion. I tend to use the questions they are struggling with the most, making similar examples, then walking them through these problems and breaking down the problems until the student understands the how the process works.

I have tutored before, I am currently tutoring kids at my high school everyday in the subject in which they need help in. My goal in tutoring is to not only to have the child succeed in the course but to understand the concept of the course. My style of teaching is different for each child, because everyone does not learn the same way. Some people are visual learners and with them I focus on teaching them with pictures. Others are audible learners in which with these I focus on teaching with songs. My main reason for tutoring is to make learning fun!

I find nothing more exciting and rewarding than teaching a topic or subject to an individual and seeing the expression and excitement on their face when they truly begin to understand the material. A Little Bit About Me...

I have 13 years experience teaching high school and middle school math. I have had a fulfilling teaching career thus far. I currently teach at Providence High School in Matthews, North Carolina. My current subjects are Algebra 2 and A.P. Calculus. I have experience teaching levels 6-12 grades. My strengths are Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Calculus.
In public school, the key to teaching success is the ability to motivate students to try their best by learning as much about each individual student as possible and keeping their attention. One of my classroom rules for students is to participate in everything we do.
