I have taught public school in the Montgomery County School System for 26 years. I retired May 2010. I have taught grades 1-6 in All subject areas. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1983 from Auburn University. I received my Master's Degree in Education from Troy State University at Montgomery in 1990. I have worked extensively with children in many areas due to the No Child left Behind Act. I have been to a Reading Academy, workshops, on the job training, and have been given title of model teacher. This is where new teachers come to observe my teaching of new programs that were put in place.

I completed coursework in several biology and chemistry classes. This coursework included labs and field work. The biology labs I have experience in include: Zoology, Ecology, Freshwater Biology, Insect, and Fish Biology. These labs were highly detailed and included all levels of dissections, identification of species using taxonomic keys, and microscope work. The field work included species colllection, mapping, and sample collection. Lab reports and field notes were required as part of the labs. The seminars for these courses involved all aspects of biology and life sciences. The exams for these courses were involved and would require 2-5 page essays on biological systems. During high school I worked as a volunteer in St. Petersburg, Florida through All Children’s Hospital. Within the Bedside Buddies Program, I was able to spend over 200 hours working with physically and mentally challenged children to maintain their grades when they were experiencing long staying in the hospital.
