I love working with children and adults of all ages. I have taught preschoolers and adults. I am patient and attend to the student's individual needs. No lesson is the same for any one student. My goal is to teach the subject material and also make the experience enjoyable. Music takes a lot of practice and repetition which brings about the foundation for quality music education. I am a well qualified music teacher. My teaching experience has been in the classroom and privately. I earned my BA in music and was trained vocally for six years in sacred and secular styles of music. I also was trained for fourteen years in piano. More recently, I have taught piano and voice privately. I am experienced with the organ and saxaphone as well.

Most of my professional teaching experience was with Lexington/Richland School District 5, where I substituted and taught General Music from 1997-2008. During that time I worked with students from Pre-K - 5th grade, and I enjoyed interacting with each age group. One interesting thing about teaching music was how the lessons often carried over to other subjects, so that in music class we also worked with math and science (music theory), reading (song lyrics), and social studies (music origins and styles). In addition to classroom experience, I have also worked one-on-one, teaching private piano lessons and tutoring with an adult literacy program. As a graduate of a Health Science program at a competitive public university, Clemson University, I showed an understanding of many science disciplines. In the course of earning my BS in Health Sciences with a Concentration in Pre-Professional Health Studies, I became well versed in biology as well as chemistry. I have also demonstrated a passion for education as I wish to continue my own education in a masters program. I attended the School for Creative and Performing Arts in my home town. I have a skill for the Visual Arts and have had many years of Art History. I also read music and play the piano. I love working with children and students of all ages. I was a volunteer at Shriners Childrens Hospital for many years in the recreational therapy department. Since elementary school, I have known the value of a good education and I have always had a strong drive and love for learning.
